This calibration kit can test the following:

Liquid and Solid-State Neutral Density filters are typically calibrated by the filters' manufacturers, and the corresponding filters' performance certificates are supplied to customers.  Whereas solid-state filters typically maintain their integrity for many years, the viability of liquid filters degrades much quicker due mainly to slow irreversible chemical reactions and photonic-promoted chemical reactions.Therefore, manufacturers of liquid filters typically advise customers to replace liquid filters every 1 to 3 years.

Until recently, solid-state neutral density filters had substantial non-linearity across their surface which contributed to so-called "Expanded Uncertainty"*. This was a disadvantage of solid-state neutral density filters.

Breakthrough developments in nano-technology have allowed us to develop state-of art solid-state quantum resonance filters, which are increasingly replacing liquid filters. The new Firefly solid-state filters have allowed customers to save tremendous amounts of money by removing the need to replace and recalibrated filters.

Our proprietary nano-deposition and nano-embedded technology overcomes the disadvantage of using solid-state neutral density filters over liquid-based filters while preserving all the advantages of solid-state neutral density filters. Moreover, our composite medium enables using our neutral density filters to be used for calibration not only for the NIST wavelengths but also at ANY wavelength within the optical ranges of operations of our solid-state neutral density filters.
